The biggest mental battle is pushing yourself through to the finish point. And when is a painting finished? Well that totally depends on you. The goal is to get the painting finished not necessarily getting it perfect.

I put together the time lapse video for the entire painting. It is sped up of course so that you don’t have to watch as long as I had painted for. I spent the better part of a week from start to finish. I would come back and see something that just seemed wrong and would adjust the painting until I felt better about the element. I tend to do this a lot. It comes from being a perfectionist.
The biggest mental battle is pushing yourself through to the finish point. And when is a painting finished? Well that totally depends on you. The goal is to get the painting finished not necessarily getting it perfect. Each painting is like earning experience points in a video game. You work and you get better through facing the artistic challenges design, composition, and color. There is always going to be one more line or one more material detail that could be polished up. If I stopped and changed everything continually, alas, I would never post anything or say that I finished anything.
There is something to be said for the feeling of dropping in the last bit of color or adding the last piece of detail to a painting. It just feels good and it helps the self confidence level go way up.
I hope you enjoy the time lapse. Let me know your thoughts.
