This is the timelapse drawing process of my latest Witch video…the Cheeky Witch. This is my process using Clip Studio Paint. You will see that just like last time, you’ll see me change my mind a lot. I am very picky. What can I say?
Hopefully this is helpful in your own art endeavors.
Tonight my #digital_painting is little on the naughty side. The #pumpkin patch’s favorite #witch is getting ready to fly on her broom. Can the pumpkins handle the show?
This digital painting was 24 layers that I combined into two separate folders. The design was created entirely in #Clip_studio_paint. There is a folder for the background and the pumpkins. Yes. I treated the pumpkins as background elements. I wanted to keep them from being too overpowering. A color balance layer allowed me to push the cooler blues out of the already warm reds, yellows, and oranges. There were so many color variations that I enjoyed, I had a hard time picking the one I wanted. The other folder by the way is dedicated to the witch herself. This makes it so much easier to control the lighting and colors of just the witch to do it this way. The lighting was completed after I removed a lot of the luminosity from the scene. The lights pop so much better when you start dark and go light. I hope you enjoyed this. If you have any specific questions, you can ask away. What do you think? Tonight’s #digital painting is of a witch in the #forest conversing with some #pumpkins she found. What are they talking about? Are they getting ready for #Halloween?
This was created using #clipstudiopaint and was separated into three different folders. The #witch had her own folder with about seven layers in all. The pumkins were on their own layer and finally a layer just for the background. The #painting was separated to allow for better control of lighting effects. I also didn’t want the gradient maps to go over everything so separation worked well for me. I used two separate #light setups. One layer was set to hard light which capture the light from the pumkin. The second lighting setup was a keylight coming from behind. This was also set to hard light.
It’s that time of year when #ghosts, #witches, #spooks, and more come out to play as we get closer to Halloween.
