Just in for the weekend. I’ve made another video using Clip Studio Paint and Blender with a bit of a science fiction spin. The cybernetic space police are on the hunt looking for the one that got away. Whether it’s on a distance planet or the surface of a comet, the cybernetic space police can go where others can’t.
The Concept Art Idea Book 2 has finally been published. It’s been almost a year since I started working on my book. I’ve had some recent posts about my progress over the past few months. There were days when I had to take short breaks and there were days when I took some longer ones. There is nothing better though than the feeling you get when you can say that you are all done.
The tutorial has both the video screen captures from Clip Studio Paint so you can watch me draw and it on screen video capture from within Blender so that the process is more understandable. I am a little nervous when speaking publicly but this took it to a whole new level. Next time I’ll practice what I’m going to say more but the final project does sound pretty genuine which is what I was going for.
I created another digital art piece combining Blender and Clip Studio Paint. This is an extra bonus since I just uploaded City Witch last night. I should probably think about pacing myself. 🙂 I am going to go back to posting only once a week but I had a vision in my mind for this one that I didn’t want to lose.
Just uploaded my latest video to my channel. You can read more about it in my latest post earlier tonight. I included a screen shot down below so you can see it in the Blender video editor.
The design is about 40 layers most of which are corrections and refinements that I made as I went back over during the polishing stage. I just paint over areas I’m not happy with and use another layer. Don’t judge. Each to their own right?
Have you ever noticed the relationships between different artist skill sets? Sharing my continuing work in progress of my new concept art book. I have had to digest hours of YouTube videos and Pinterest images of various types of page layouts to get the knowledge I needed to successfully make my own.
Just uploaded my next video on YouTube. It’s a combination of an illustration made using Clip Studio Paint and Blender. As an artist, it’s very important to utilize all of the tools out there…and boy are there a lot. Blender and Clip Studio Paint work very well together in that you can start a project in one application and finish it up in another. Most folks I know create grey boxes in Blender, export them, and then import them into their favorite drawing program where they create their final illustration.
Available now is my 26 page comic containing two short stories along with some bonus art as well as two videos. This is comic is my first ever and I’m really excited to share this with you.
Tonight with the weather the way it is I was inspired to create a tornado monster with a little bit of a fantasy look to it. Slowly making its way across the plains. This little guy is ready to mow through your back yard.
Tonight I finished my #Fire Witch design. It is a #digitalart piece completed using #Clip Studio Paint. This is part of the series I have been working on. You can see other pieces that I have completed by clicking here or here.
Amazon Kindle now has The Concept Art Idea Book 2 available to purchase. It’s been almost a year since I started working on my #digitalart book. I’ve had some recent posts about my progress over the past few months. There were days when I had to take short breaks and there were days when I took some longer ones. What is this series about? In 2017 I published my very first book with the hopes of sharing my artwork with the world in the form of an illustrated book and providing value to those who just need some ideas to get started. I am all too familiar with artist block. That feeling of hopelessness that comes from not knowing what to draw. I find myself going to my own personal library of art books to overcome the block to get inspired by some of my favorite artists. I figure that if someone finds one of my books and is inspired by one of my images, then that is something to feel good about.
Process
This book was created using Microsoft Publisher. I had never really spent much time using it before and thought it would be an inexpensive way to build a book. I already had created much of my artwork using other drawing software so all I needed to do was to upload my images into the page layouts. I took the time to build a table of contents first so that I knew which images to put where. This also helped me decide what kind of articles I would add as well. Once the book was completed, I exported quite a few drafts and allowed myself to walk away from the project a while. I found that after a week would go by, I’d look at my pages and think “uuugghh! What am I doing?” The pages didn’t look as good as they had when I really get going. Time away does provide some clearer vision. Amazon really makes it easy to upload a book just so long as you are careful with page sizes and page counts. Every once in a while I would lose a page and everything would shift right or left. Kind of gets annoying but perseverance prevails.
Published for Kindle and Paperback
Where can I find it?
The book is going to take about 72 hours to promulgate on the servers but you can find it here. I’ll be sure to send more updates about it if something changes.
How I used Clip Studio Paint and Blender to create an animated video
Making the Tutorial
I recently purchased a copy of Filmora to build and edit videos with. I see myself making more animated videos in the future. I don’t know why I hadn’t been using it before.

I am a little nervous when speaking publicly but this took it to a whole new level. Animated Videos
If you haven’t seen them yet, I wrote about the recent videos that I had put together and posted on YouTube here and also here. People have already taken notice of these short gems and I think I’m up to five subscribers already. Woo Hoo!
Hopefully you all find inspiration and maybe get some knowledge for this instructional video. Always love to get feedback so let me know what you think.

Desert Witch Blender Animation
Desert Witch Process
The design is about 25 layers using many correction as I went to adjust color and aesthetic for the overall design. This was created using Clip Studio Paint for the digital drawing / painting process.

Blender Enhancements
I uploaded the finished .png into Blender and added some additional lighting effects. For this design, I created a particle field to simulate the effects of being in a desert sand storm of some sort. The light which I set to 1500W, really sets off the glow that I was looking for and color matched very nicely with her clothes and other highlights. I just love the versatility I get when I use Blender.
I finished my latest video upload for YouTube and have uploaded it today. It’s called the City Witch. You can see the earlier art post here.
The design was created using Clip Studio Paint and I used the Blender Video Compositor to add the music into the video into a combined video for your listening and viewing enjoyment.
